Joining the growing list of GIBS’ internationally published case study writers, Tshidi Mathibe has won 3rd prize in the 2020 John Molson Business Ownership Case Writing Competition sponsored by the Bob and Raye Briscoe Centre in Business Ownership Studies at the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.

Mathibe’s case study, co-authored with Shreshthi Mehta, is titled: ‘All Women Recycling: Staffing Challenges in a Manufacturing Business’. It was also recently accepted for publication by Ivey Publishing.

GIBS case-writing competition winners

A total of 13 case studies and accompanying teaching notes were entered into the 2020 GIBS case-writing competition. Three judges blind-reviewed the cases and teaching notes and selected the following cases as their top three entries:

First place: Anglo American Leadership Academy: Aligning Global Leadership Development to Strategy by Amy Moore, Verity Hawarden and Hayley Pearson

Second place: Old Mutual: Defining Moments for Board Leadership by Morris Mthombeni, Gideon Pogrund, Amy Moore and Verity Hawarden

Third place: Wot-If? Stakeholder Management in a Scarce Environment by Simona Mazza and Verity Hawarden
