Earlier this year, GIBS hosted a dialogue on the state of the political exonomy in South Africa. GIBS welcomed 18 professors of political science, politics, government and international affairs, development, international justice and human rights, who hailed from from the Universities of Princeton, Pennsylvania, Harvard, New York, Ohio State, Georgetown, California, Colorado Boulder, Pittsburgh, Texas at Austin, and Zurich, and the London School of Economics. The sessions were a free-flowing dialogue in which the visitors heard broadly about the state of the political economy of South Africa. They were also able to share their own reflections on South Africa and provide general remarks about the country’s political economy. Among the local experts to address the group was political analyst and sangoma, Aubrey Matshiqi.
